How to use Spellbinders Dies with a CuttleBug
To cut and emboss using Spellbinders dies you will need a Spellbinders Tan Embossing Mat Create a sandwich in the following order from the bottom up:

    1. A plate
    2. C plate
    3. Spellbinders Die (cutting side or ridged side up)
    4. Paper or cardstock
    5. B plate
    6. Run through Cuttlebug machine.

    Embossing with the CuttleBug
Create an “Embossing Sandwich” using the following stacking from the bottom up. * If embossing right after cutting remove the C Plate and replace with the Tan Embossing Mat.
    1. Place A plate on bottom
    2. Leave die face up on A plate with die cut still in the die.
    3. Place one Spellbinders Tan Embossing Mat on top of the die.
    4. Use 2 or 3 pieces of cardstock to shim. *Cautionary Note: Using more than 3 pieces of cardstock to shim Cuttlebug Embossing sandwich will result in B Plate breakage. When using Spellbinders Edgeabilities card making dies, shim with only 2 pieces of card stock.
    5. Place two acrylic B plates on top of sandwich and run thru Cuttlebug machine to emboss Spellbinders die cuts.
    6. Turn die over and use like a stencil with inks and chalks for added detail.

Please note: When purchasing the Tan Embossing Mats they are usually packed as 2 in a packet. Because the 2 layers are cut together it can look like just one mat. Take a little time on a corner of the mat and you should be able to prise the mats apart. Don’t put 2 mats in your machine together as this will break your machine.

Great information Ian. I ditto the note about really checking to see if you have two mats in your packet. I would have sworn black and blue that I only had one but Mandy was right.......there were two. Just had to move that corner of the mats more so they would come apart.

As only one mat is required for the Cuttle Bug we now have single packs so, don't spend all day trying to make THEM into two mats
