• Recipe Book by Kaye McGrath

    Instructions
I will be showing you how to make the covers and 6 double pages for the recipe book. It is then your personal choice as to how many pages you would like to include in your book.

Step 1: The covers: Using double sided tape cover the two pieces of 21cm x 15 cm pieces of chipboard with the patterned paper.

Step 2: Cover the inside of each cover with a piece of 21cm x 14.5 cm white card.

Punch three holes in each cover, one in the centre and one 1cm in from each end.

Step 3: Each A4 sheet of card will give you 2 left hand pages by cutting each sheet in half along the long side. Punch three holes in each piece to match the hole in the covers.

Step 4: To make the right hand pages, score and fold the 21cm x 19.5cm card at 5cm on the 19.5cm side. Tape or glue each side to make a pocket.

Step 5: Punch 3 holes to match the covers.
Repeat these steps for the remaining 5 sets of pages.

Step 6: Use the 30cm x 30 cm coloured card to make the tags. Cut each sheet in half then cut 3 tags from each piece six (14cm x 9cm pieces from each sheet).

Repeat with the white card however change the size of the tags to 13cm x 8 cm.

Step 7: Attach the white card to the red card using double sided tape or glue. Glue a circle (or square if you prefer) of card to the back of the card for a handle. Attach the rings and your book is ready to decorate and add the recipes.

Add recipes to the right hand side page. They can be hand written or typed whatever your preference. I have used one tag as a removable shopping list and the other for a photo of the recipe. If you prefer they could be used for notes or variations

    Decorating the recipe book
Decorate the cover with a title and some kitchen embellishments. I have used one of the new Blue Edge Crafts Combo papers to cover the book, a label cut on the eCraft, Cuttlebug alphas and a digital image on Spellbinders dies and chipboard kitchen tools which I coloured and then added a coat of Dimensional Magic.

To decorate the inside of the book I have used off cuts of the coloured card and patterned paper with black and white digital images and kitchen brads.

I have also added extra pages for an Index and Notes as well as 2 decorative pages. You could also add a Hints page as well. Acetate could also be added between each page for protection while the book is in use.

This really was such a fun project and really worthwhile. Mine is going to be used as a health book for my brother and sister and an Aussie recipe book for my parents - a reminder of their trips over here.

So pleased you all enjoyed it. I have decided to go ahead and add some more pages to mine for a friend for Christmas. Another one ticked off the list.... well in my head anyway
