• Buckle Card by Kerry

Card 17.5 cm x 14.5 cm (main card)
Card or patterned paper 6.5 cm x 14 cm (top layer)
Card or patterned paper 10 cm x 14 cm (inside layer)
    Card 3.5 cm x 14.5 cm (tag/buckle part)
Image to go on the front
    Embellishments to decorate
You will also need a round corner punch and a sharp knife.
1.Buckle - Take the card (3.5 cm x 14.5 cm) and score it at 5.5 cm, fold along the score line. Use the round corner punch and punch the 2 corners on the long side of the card – see photo. If you want to emboss the long side of the buckle, do it at this step. Put aside.

    2. Take the card (17.5 cm x 14.5 cm) and score it at 7 cm, fold it to make the main card.

    3. Put double sided tape on the back of the card or patterned paper (6.5 cm x 14 cm) and put it on to the short side of the main card.

    4. Put double sided tape on the back of the card/patterned paper (10 cm x 14 cm), on the back of the short side of the buckle piece – at this stage do not remove the back of the double sided tape from the card/patterned paper. Take the main card, the buckle and card/patterned paper.
Remove the backing from the double sided tape from the buckle (short side), tuck it underneath the card/patterned paper (10 cm x 14 cm), and place it where you want the buckle to go. When you are happy with the placement of the buckle remove the backing from double sided tape and place the card/patterned paper and place it on top of the buckle (inside of the card) - see the pictures for placement. (in the first photo, ignore the slit on the card at this stage – see next step).

    5. Creating the slot - Close the card and have the buckle so that is placed over the front of the card (see photo). Take a pencil and mark each side of the buckle where you want the slit to go. (The measurement for the slit is 3mm x 4 cnm). Cut out the slot (through all layers).

Slide the buckle into the slot to make sure it goes in ok – make any adjustments to the slot as needed.

    6. Decorate the front as you like – make sure that whatever you put on the front, doesn’t cover the slot. (Photo below, shows the card opened – even though you see a bit of the bear through the slot, it is not blocking the buckle in any way.
