• Card File Box by Kaye McGrath

    The Box
Step1. Cut 2cm from one side of the 30cm x 30cm sheet of card. This will leave you with a piece of card measuring 30cm x28cm.
Step2. Score along the 30cm side at 6.5 cm and 23.5cm.
Turn the card and score along the 28cm side at 15cm and 21.5cm
Step3 Draw a line from A to B as shown in the diagram and cut off the marked piece.

Step4. Fold all score lines and cut along the lines indicated by dotted lines in the diagram to the intersecting folds. Fold into a box shape and glue or tape together.

Step5. At this point you can do the optional step on inserting a piece of chipboard along the inside of the base and also along the inside back. Glue or tape these pieces securely to the box. The patterned paper will cover the chipboard and give your box extra strength.

Step6. Cut patterned paper 30cm x 6cm and glue or tape around the front and another piece 17cm x 15cm and glue or tape onto the back panel of the box.
Step7. Decorate the box as you wish. I have used lace and beaded trim and a 3d embellishment.

    The Cards

Step1. Cut 12 pieces of card 17cm x 6.5cm, emboss them if you wish
Step2. Make the tabs. They can be a circle or a rectangle or any other shape you may want.
Step3. Stamp or print the months on each tab and decorate the tabs. I have used peg stamps and kindy glitz. You could use stickers as well.
Step4. Glue the tabs to the cards, either in the centre or alternate each month across the cards.
Add a card for each month and your card file box is complete.
