Site update so far

Hello all

I know some of you have already been in and visited the new site so you may have already found out a few things. I thought I would list out a few things to do / check to get you settled in to the new system. You can do most of it from the UserCP link at the top left of the site once logged in.

• You will probably have to update your avatar and check your signature is correct.
• Check in the edit options to see if you have invisible ticked. It seems it got enabled for a good number of people as the data was imported.
• Clean out any old PM's from your inbox as well as sent box.
• You may also enter your DOB and it will display on the calendar
• If you would like a bulk upload of your old gallery please create a new album called something like old photos. When I upload them you will be able to move them about and add text to them etc.

I have changed the way you view the forum to what I think will be a better and easier way to read the posts. When you click on a forum title you will see all threads that have been active for 100 days or less. You can select different periods below if you wish but this means you see the most recent first. When you click onto a thread the latest post will now be at the top of page one. In the past you had to select the last page of a long thread and look at the bottom of it to read but now it will be at the top of page one instead. I hope you like that better than the old method.

One last point. Right at the top centre of the menu bar you will see "New Posts" and it shows you just that so, you can soon catch up on what has been going on between visits.

I found you, I was missing my Craftmad wander of a morning, so I googled and found you. Just wondering are you going back to the old address or is this the address from now on? Looks great.

At the moment www.craftmad.com.au brings you straight here but soon it will take you to a new front section of the site that will have more content pages and links to here. I did it that way because if you had to wait for it all to be done in one go the site would be down for quite a while. I know you can't go too long without it

The whole site is a learning and growing process but over a short time we should have everything back and working with a bit of extra polish and shine on it.

I always used to come in on the front page, so kind of miss that, although the new one is going to be like a whole new website with new projects and stuff.......suggestions are welcome for what to include.

Poor Ian over the last few weeks, he's ahd to import the date a few times to get tit right and then the gallery stuff..............think he quite enjoyed it although it was really interesting to see all the screens open with all the different code.

As iffff we'd disappear?? Ian needs to be a redirect page up quick smart then.............he's having a bit of a rest from computing today.........then he's got teh newsletters, sorting out my new avatar, doing the new front page and asvertising site........pwooey it never ends hey???

This was on my list but not got to it until now. A 404 error is the server telling you that there is no page at the address you typed in. I have fixed it now so if you enter on an old or bad address it will tell you then take you to the front page of the new site which at the moment is the forum but will later be the new front end. phewwwwwww

There was one thing that i have been thinking of Ian. I am not sure if I have missed it but there doesn't seem to be a link to take us back up to the top of the page. Is there one that I have missed?
Just thought it would be a good idea as when the thread is long or nearing the end of the page it sometimes is a long way up....lol I know talk about lazy!!
Just something to think about if you haven't already.

Don't know exactly where to put this so I'll post here: PM's don't seem to be working. I just tried to send one to Mandy and it said I'd exceeded my limit so I couldn't send any and Mandy had exceeded her limit so she couldn't receive any.

Also just realised - There's two smilies with different names that are the same smilie. I can get this one by either typing this : o or this : eek : Without the spaces of course.

Sorry Ali, I forgot to ad the bit about PM's to my first post. I have added it now. You need to go through it and throw away any old ones and aslo in your sent box too. I should be able to expand it later but for starters it is set to a smaller space than the old system.

I did a quick lash up on the smilies to get us going but will check them all out in time.
