Default Day to Day chit chat 2010

I thought because the old thread for this was in to hundreds of pages it would be good to start off the New Year with a new thread. I have closed the old one so please post in this new one from now on.

    Happy chatting

Happy New Year everyone. We are back from our holiday. It was lovely to spend some time up in the cabin by the river, but the heat was pretty full-on. After torrential rain in the early hours of New Years Day, the cabin kitchen got flooded, and we cleaned up and decided to come home a day earlier than planned. I was bored out of my brain - hadn't taken enough craft projects or reading material. Coming home was so nice - there really is no place like home! Our kitten has grown so much in the 6 days we were away, and she cried every night at my sister's place. She's as quiet as a mouse now she's back home

Thanks Ian, it was getting a bit hard to see what was happening in the other thread.

Sounds like a nice New Year, Wendy, like you say though, there is no place like home.........not that I've left it that much these holidays. I can't beleive that tomorrow is back to work day.............I seriously am not ready yet. That kitten sounds adorable, do you have more piccies of it?? Ours would be crying like a baby if you tried to move it anywhere let alone leave it for a weekend.......blooming sook she is.

I'll post some more pics during the week Mandy. I can't believe how much a kitten can grow in one week!

I'm getting organised to go to my sister's place for roast lamb tonight. Had my Mum stay over last night, which was really nice too. She's gone to my Aunt's place for a few days now and then Dad will go and pick her up on Thursday. We went to the market here today which was nice and relaxing, and I did manage to buy a nice top for only $10 so i left there a very happy bunny.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to a playground to meet Kerry, Michael and Emma. Looking forward to that! I'll try and remember to take my camera and post some pics.

This morning, Brenton, Rachel, Nicole and I went to the park to meet Kerry, Michael and Emma. The kids had a lovely time, although Rachel and Nicole were fairly tired after having sleep-overs with their cousins last night, so were a little anti-social. The adults enjoyed our meet-up too, was fantastic to be able to chat in person.
Kerry asked me to pass on the message that she is still alive, and will try and get on here before her holiday finishes on the weekend.

That was good to meet up, Wendy, I bet Kerry is flat out enjoying herself Well, at least I hope she's having fun.

Back to work today for me Still, good job I came in here and tidied up yesterday, made it soo much easier. Now I just have to make a start on the accounts..............think I might need a bit more chocolate for that.

That was so nice to meet up with Kerrry, Wendy. I had a card from her today saying she was having a good time and looking forward to meeting you.
Ruth and I are down to the last half hour or so crafting before she goes home but think I may have to call it a night. Went to the Moreton Bay Boat Club for lunch and too much fresh air and sunshine i think or maybe just too many late nights and craft.

Hi everyone it has been so long since i have been on and I just have to say WOW!!!!!!! all these changes. I think it is going to take ma awhile to work my way around the forum again.... any suggestions that will help?????

Well we have moved into our new place and I am still unpacking my craft room, it is a bit smaller than my room at the other house but i guess i will have to be make sure that things get put away straight away so that i can move lol....
Even though we moved up here on the 19th December it has been so hectic I only had 3 days to get all the essentials unpacked and sorted before we had to go back to Brisbane to see all our kids for Christmas then it was back up here to do some more unpacking. Was only back for a day when we got our first visitor so glad that I had made up the spare bed and the spare room was tidy... then after that we had another 2 days of sorting out and then got another 5 people come to stay for a couple of days and the New Year... We did have a good time though was a nice rest for us and the unpacking.

The last few days I have been really getting stuck into sorting out my craft room, Alan has put up several shelves for me but I am thinking that it isn't going to be enough, I might have to cull some of my things. Well maybe the ones that i don't really use anymore lol I am such a horder when it comes to my craft stuff..

Hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and got thoroughly spoilt and your New Year has started off in a great way... and continues to be great.
Today I think i will go check out the glass outlets as my good crystal cupboard got broken in the move have to get some mirror and glass to fix it.. i have been putting that off because once it is fixed i have more boxes to unpack and i am so over packing and unpacking right now.

Mandy looks like you will have fun with your new toy....
Wendy that would have been nice for you to meet up with Kerry and family, they are such nice people...
Kaye glad to hear that you & Ruth had some great crafting sessions while she was up.

I had better get my backside off this chair and get some work done before the boss comes in....
    Have a great Day!!

Thanks Mandy, yes it is near the sea... we are within walking distance of a nice little beach and just a little bit further on is the Boat Harbour and lovely restaurants.
Looking forward to trying them all out.....lol

I was just having a little chuckle here when I re read your post..............especially the bit about Alan putting up shelves...............Ian put up a new set in here over the weekend and the bottom one fell off ROFL..................luckily nothing got damaged, it was kind of funny though. Poor Ian, he has a bad reputation with DIY, he's not allowed near the plumbing again

    Happy New Year everyone!!

I hope 2010 is kind to you all - Let's hope it brings good health, good times and good luck to us all

I'm back at work this week, had a lovely week off over Christmas/New Year though, beautiful weather, lots of catching up with family sharing good food and wine. Just what a Summer break should be.

I'm in the process of setting myself some goals for the year, mostly financial stuff as we've got a lot of plans for the next few years but we need to have some $ to do them so that means we have to know where the money is going so we know where to plug the holes. It's interesting to see where the money goes...although it's a little depressing to decide not to buy any magazines or craft supplies for six months which is top of the list of goals...I've got so much of each that I want to try and make use of what I've got and put the savings from not buying them into the piggy bank (well, the savings/mortgage account) Wish us luck, neither of us are particularly disciplined financially!

Hi ya Ali, good to hear that you had a nice break away. I so hear you about goals and savings, I joined a group called Simple Savings last year (or the year before) and got heaps of information and advice re saving and cutting down on spending. They are a very supportive bunch of people over there. I'm kind of thinking the same as you re the not buying magazines, over Christmas I went thru all the ones I had and marked the pages of projects I want to try..................that is going to keep me busy for the rest of the year. Maybe we should start another thread on here about frugal crafting? I usually spend heaps of money on machines and stuff and never really get the benefit of them. Anyhoo, nice to hear from you, don't be a stranger now and good luck with the savings

Geez it's so HOT here today! I had a crap day yesterday, things just did not go according to plan and consequently I didn't get as much work done as I wanted to.
DH went out golfing yesterday... apparently they did hit a few golf balls in between drinking cans LOL. I dropped him off at 9am, and didn't see him again till 9.30 last night. Of course there had been a pub crawl after golf, and at 11.45pm I decided to go and sleep on the sofa, as DH was passed out on the ensuite floor, snoring his head off! He's been feeling very seedy today, serves him right.. although I woke with a back ache after sleeping on the sofa too.
My parents were meant to arrive early at my sister's place to take her 2 kids back to their place for a few days, and my sister was going to come and take our two girls out swimming so I could get a solid run of work time. Well, Mum and Dad arrived 2 hours later than planned, and didn't bother to ring and tell anyone... grrr... so my sister's kids were going nuts waiting for them, and I ended up ringing my sister after Mum and Dad called in here before they went to her place, and told her not to bother coming to get the girls as it was close to lunchtime.
A friend called in just after lunch, and I ended up making a set of curtains for her bathroom. She was only planning to bring me the fabric, but I was totally over trying to do bookwork by then, so I made her curtains while she did my dishes and kept the kids busy.
I decided today was a no bookwork kind of day, so I've been working on piecing together a patchwork quilt for our niece who will be 16 at the end of January. I promised her this quilt for her 15th birthday and have only just started it, but good things come to those who wait!
