Well it is wet wet wet in Brissy, we have had 5 1/2 inches rain in the last couple of days. They say it is a land cyclone but we have no wind or anything yet just rain and more rain. I am sure we must have tigers living in our garden It is such a jungle. Good morning for cleaning out the kitchen cupboards and a good afternoon for the craft room.

Geez you've had some rain up there, Kaye, in fact all over that side of the country is very wet........we are promised a bit over here this weekend, although they've promised it for the last month and I don't think we've had any. I like your idea of staying in and creating, sounds like the best plan.

This weekend is the ABC Gardening Australia Show at Wayville, so we have to pop down for that. It's just the right time for buying a few new plants and checking out a few new ideas as it's a long weekend so there's bound to be a bit of time in the garden

We're off to the in-laws' farm for the long weekend. I must say I'm looking forward to some downtime, and will have to make time to go through MIL's craft stash too
My (now absent) tooth is still giving me some discomfort, although the headache isn't as bad as it was before the tooth was taken out. Fingers crossed I'll stop waking up with the headache very soon. I may even call the dentist today just to make sure the infection hasn't spread and needed antibiotics.

We have had over 7 inches of rain since the weekend but a reasonably dry day today though pretty dull and gloomy. managed to get the washing dry so looking at a big pile of ironing now. Ron just told me the fairies might come and do it so perhaps I should hold for a while just in case he is right. Went to our neighbours for nibblies last night for his 82nd birthday and something I ate is not agreeing with me. Have been really off all night and still feel that way today.
Hope your mouth is feeling better Wendy and i do hope you make it to the garden show Mandy. I really need to replace a few things in our garden. Guess now woudl be a good time after so much rain. Lucky people having a long weekend. We aren't allowed one up here , bit like daylight saving, fades the curtains

I'm off work with a bad cold, went into work yesterday and my boss very politely told me to go home, so I did. Feeling pretty rough, sore throat, cough, sneezing, eyes and nose running like a tap with a crook washer, lemsip, panadol, lots of sleep and plenty of crafting, my recipe for a quick recovery, must be short on one of those ingredients though cos it's not working yet! I have however finished my March swap card, now I just need to know who to send it to

Hope all of you not feeling too good get over it quickly. i know we neeed rain but both our tanks are overflowing and I am so tired of gloomy days. I won't have time to do anything but weed and mow, by the looks of the gardens. Maybe should do my second fave thing to do and thats bake and eat. Not in the mood for more housework or washing.

Beth, hope you are feeling better in a day or so. I've just come back from the dentist again - with a course of antibiotics this time, so hopefully this infection will clear very quickly now.
Kaye and Tracey, happy weeding and mowing... we'd love to have a lawn to mow!!!! Our garden is a lovely array of coloured bark chip - brown, black and green with some areas of white pebbles thrown in for variety. I think it'll be a long time before we can have a lush green lawn again.
I plan on enjoying my long weekend

Hope you both Wendy and Beth start feeling better soon.

I'm so over the rain here....my little shadow is loving it at the moment, she can be happy jumping in the puddles and get totally soaked.

Things have been quiet here.... well not really. Emma is now going 2 days a week to Daycare, she is loving it. We have had to cancel the application to get her into Early Childhood development at the moment as the medical staff can't seem to agree on things. In the 5 weeks she's been going to daycare, they have helped us in started her in toilet training...we tried early, but because of her developmental delay she wasn't ready. They have asked me to teach the kids some form of craft - not too sure what I'll be doing yet, but it sounds fun. I have also been approached by the director of the daycare to make cards to be sold. So I've been busy making cards for Mother's Day and other occasions. Having problems working out children's cards (as I don't make too many of them), have some ideas just need the time to do them.

Have had a look in the recipe swap thread to see what things I can make for snacks/lunches for Emma for daycare. She is one picky child when it comes to food...she loves hot/cold chips, vegemite sandwiches, biscuits, baked beans and that's it. Any ideas would be appreciated. So today I'm going to try Kamma's banana pikelets and sultana slice.

We are never happy are we Wendy? We moan when we have no rain and we moan when we have too much. I can't believe how the front lawn has changed from a dust pit to an overgrown mess. They tell us it is coming back on Saturday and Sunday, wish we could send some down to you.
I think you have had more than us Traceys, certainly has been gloomy hasn't it?
So pleased to hear that Emma enjoys her day care Kerry I was wondering how she was getting on with it all.
The fairies never turned up to do the ironing so better go do some, like I said never happy Moaned when I couldn't get the washing dry and now moaning because I have t o iron. Funny fish us women

Just edited to say hope you feel better soon, Beth

Hope all the sickly ones are well today.......can't be sick on a Friday now can we?? No rain here yet, just a bit cooler this morning, we're still being promised rain tonight and then until Tuesday.......we'll see if that happens

Kerry, little Miss Em sounds like she's doing really well, daycare must be suiting her. Good that you are going to teach the kids crafts, you can never start them too early now can you ??

We're hoping to have a nice weekend of gardening, going to the garden show and maybe taking a new Cruise for a test drive, so all in all a full on weekend, there had better be some time for crafting in there.

We've just got home after going for a drive...sick of being inside. We ended going and having a look at Somerset Dam, we weren't the only ones, there was people everywhere. It was great to see how much water is in the dams now. Even noticed a sign that had it was 100% full (Somerset Dam). I took a couple of photos of the water being released as well as a photo of Michael & Emma getting drenched.

My daughter is a bit concerned that even though we are flooding she finds it 'a bit exciting' Not I say. We have been digging trenches and sweeping water for a few hours because it is going everywhere its not supposed to go. Probably as bad as we have seen it here in the last 18years. i don't think I'll be going out anytime soon. Hope everyone is feeling better.

We have a bit of watery sun this morning in Brissy, looks like our rain has gone to Melbourne. What a mess down there.
Great photos Kerry long time since we have sen the dam like that and hope the flooding didn't get any worse for you Traceys, funny how the young ones find it exciting isn't it? I am well past the excited stage after walking/paddling around the yard yesterday and realising that when it does dry out I have days and days of back breaking work out there to get it all back into shape. Funny, we planted ornamental ginger when we moved in 20 years ago but dug it our when we redid the gardens and now it is all sprouting up in the lawn so maybe the water hasn't reached that depth in all these years.
