Default January Sewing Swap Partners and Chat

Hi everyone, what a brilliant turn out for our first sewing swap of the year. A big 'Hello' and glad you are back Annmaree (Emu Up A Gum Tree). Next a huge welcome to Kelly G, glad to see you made the journey from blogland to Craftmad. Please remember to ask any questions, someone will know and answer I am sure.

Okay, time for the swap partners for our Craftmad Family Quilt. We are swapping a 9" block in the design of Fence Rail (see links in this post), one block to each of your partners in their preferred colours. When completed please take a photo of your swaps then send off to your partners by the 31st January. Once you know that your partner has received their swap please post the photo in the January Swap 2012 album in the Gallery so we all can see. May I suggest mailing your swaps in a plastic sleeve, bag. It gets a tad wet in Australia at this time of year.

    Partners:

Kelly G send to Emu Up a Gum Tree, and Mandy, and Merry

Emu Up A Gum Tree send to Mandy, and Merry, and CrafteeCC

Mandy send to Merry and CrafteeCC and Net3811

Merry send to CrafteeCC and Net3811 and Kelly G

CrafteeCC send to Net3811 and Kelly G and Emu Up a Gum Tree

Net3811 send to Kelly G and Emu Up a Gum Tree and Mandy

    #######I have updated colour list.

Yes, please if you could list your colours here. I know that some people have already listed over in the initial January Swap post.

Merry - garden green, soft pinks, rose reds

CrafteeCC - think of the leaves turning - browns, reds, golds, oranges, muted greens, burgundy

Annmaree (Emu) -bright colours, pinks and purples, But Whatever is easy though and whatever you have, dont buy special! I would adore anything! ****** Just want to update my colour choices to purple, pink and yellow IF you have it otherwise whatever brightest and colourfullest thing you have I would love!

Kelly G - between shades of blue - or a lime green/hot pink combo

Mandy - Well, blue Obviously, although I don't mind greens, lilac, pale lemon, sand/beige/taupe/khaki type colours, also love silver

Net3811 - Either blues and greens, pinks or pastels are my faves. Please no muddy colours.

Sorry had to smile when I read Annmaree's request from you Mandy - Favourite colour. I won't put a colour next to your name Mandy but Annmaree you will soon discover that Mandy does have a thing about Blue.

Sorry everyone. I am having life dramas and can see I am very behind. Just colourful is fine by me. Either blues and greens, pinks or pastels are my faves. Please no muddy colours.

Okay...my fabrics have been rinised, this is a first for me. They are all dried and have ironed the ones I want to use. Have now cut strips with scissors because I am keen now and don't have a rotary blade at this stage. Just been checking out pressing of seams. Who would think that some so simple could cause such debate out there in Internet land. I have decided that I will press my seams open. Off to the sewing machine I go.

Good job you reminded me, Merry, off to wash mine now - in this heat they will dry in half an hour I'm with you, I do have a rotary thing somewhere here - who can find it in this mess though? So, it will be my newly bought quilting scissors

Okay, so I finished all three of mine - what a learning curve that was - or a relearning curve, years since I did any proper quilting and all I can say is I'm so thankful I have a seam unpicker Anyhow, Cathy, Merry and Annette, you completed blocks are on the way to you.

I had to laugh about the seam allowance, got out the manual, worked out how it worked (again, forgot from the last time) then tried to set it up for a 1/4" - would you believe that it's set in mm's so it had to be converted anyhow. It worked out to 6mm in the end and the blocks turned out at 5" so that was okay.
