Suggestion from Annmaree - Disappearing 9 patch

Hi everyone, please feel free to add any ideas for a sewing swap/project here at any time during the year.
Suggestion from Annmaree - Disappearing 9 patch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEjZOXxPazg
I thought it was suggested here, but it might have been somewhere else! To do an 'ugly' swap. Where we use fabrics that we have in stash that we consider to be ugly! Could either be a fat quarter swap, or maybe even a sewing project? or both? ugly FQ swap and then a challenge to make something with it?
just googled, and one of the challenges I found was where participants divided up the ugly fabric to send to everyone and then we all have equal amounts of various 'ugly fabrics and the challenge is to see what you can make just using the 'ugly' fabrics
I just thought it was something different and unusual that could be done, and I think we would probably be surprised with the results!

Thanks for all these wonderful block ideas Annmaree. Keep them coming.
I've just seen a swap for these on another site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6l6aDG2SsM I thought they look like fun and would love to try one... I have one a little bit similar that hubby bought me for Christmas in 2010 from a Christmas market, but I really like the black, white and pearl one... I think I could get addicted to these once I work it out (and find some suitable tins! suggestions?)

Sorry if there's a double post, something weird is happening... I saw these being swapped on another site and was intrigued: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6l6aDG2SsM I'd love to give these a go, I think I could get seriously addicted (if I can find suitable containers... suggestions?)

Lauren, those pincushions look so elegant and beautiful. I think this is something will have to try.
They do look lovely Lauren, a bit too fancy for me. I reckon I have just to thing to use for them - heaps and heaps of inner round cardboard things from packing tape - I've made all sorts of containers from them over the years, now though we just throw them in the bin as we get too many. You just need to make a bottom for them which isn't too hard.

Oh I meant to say, with the posts not appearing right away, if there are links from members with less than 100 posts, it has to be approved by admin (Ian) before it appears.
