Thanks for the suggestion Mandy....I will go with that and it is something I would not have thought of. I am happy to bring my Copics for people to have a try. If you have any particular images you would like to play with please just message me and I will make a note of them a get making some copies. Maybe have play and work out what colours would be good to have.

Glad you will be doing an off the page project Kaye as they are always so wonderful. I must ask will the miniature houses/shops be anywhere I could have a look at in real life?

The miniatures will most certainly be here Merry and you are most welcome to look, photograph, whatever. The only one missing is Santas workshop which we donated to the Oncology Department at the hospital for their Christmas Raffle. We had a lovely letter from m the l;ady who won it and she was so thrilled.

I think we are all going to learn a lot during our weekend. I made some roses today so I have included them in my projects as well. Pretty simple but really pretty.

If anyone wants Copics, let me know, I can order them in, just list the part number in an email or PM and I'll get the cost of them for you. I don't order that regularly from this company though as I order in bulk to save money - and more importantly - time lol

As the year is slipping by so quickly I thought it was about time to bump this up again with a few more details.

    Craft Mad Meet Up 2012

We are planning our first Craft Mad Meet Up in Brisbane over the long weekend 29th September / 1stOctober.

Here are a few more details which maybe helpful in planning your weekend

    Flights(if required) and Accommodation
You will need to arrange your own flights and accommodation . As the date gets closer we may be able to arrange some transport to and from the airport but it would be advisable to have a plan in place for this just in case.
    Some suggested nearby motels are:
    ChermsideCourt
    https://www.chermsidecourtmotel.com/
    ChermsideGreen
    http://www.chermsidegreen.com.au/images/stories/front_chermside_green.jpg
    Crafting
After some investigation of local venues we found that they are all quite expensive to hire and also for catering so in an effort to keep costs down Ron and I have offered the use of our home at Kedron for the crafting . We are planning 2 days of crafting (Saturdayand Sunday)
We would like everyone attending to make a kit for each person so if we have 8 people you will need to make 8 kits.
The kits should contain everything to complete a project of your choice and instructions if possible. Should we run out of time, the kits could be finished at home and uploaded to the gallery
You should bring along a basic tool kit, tapes, glue etc. For those of you who are flying,I am sure we will have enough scissors etc to share. We should also have enough craft mats to go around.
    ================================================== ==============

    Food
The following meals will be catered for during the weekend.
    Saturday and Sunday:
Morning tea,Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Supper (for those who wish to craft on after dinner)
Of course included in this will be bottomless tea coffee, cold drinks, nibblies and maybe even chocolateJ
There will be a charge of $12.50 per person per day.
Breakfastand Dinner will be at your own expense.
For those who would like to stretch the day out it has been suggested that we could grab some take away for dinner on Saturday night. We have a wide range of options close by.
For Sunday night’s dinner we could have a meal at the local pub which is about 5 minutes away where they usually have an excellent deal of buy one meal get the second for $5.
On Monday we hope to include a shopping trip To Westfield Chermside and of course crafting is also an option.
All meals on Monday will be at your own expense.
    ================================================== =============
All of this is of course open to discussion and we would appreciate your input and suggestions if there is anything else you would like to see included or left out.
We would need numbers by August 31st to enable everyone time to prepare their kits and I will be in touch re any special dietary needs etc
We would also like you to let us know what your project will be when you have decided so that we might avoid doubling up.

Brilliant Kaye...you seem to have everything there......so exciting. After it was suggested, I plan on doing a card with a image to colour in with Copics. Thanks so much for putting this all together so we can keep track of it and for putting us up during the days.

No worries Merry. We are also looking forward to the weekend. Your card sounds good. I am going with an OTP project, bit of an easel card with a twist. I know Ruth is well on the way to organising hers as well.

Thanks Kaye, I checked out flights and accommodation yesterday, I got totally confused with the flights, I'm so hoping that one of the airlines has a sale in the next couple of months. Both airlines fly direct from Adelaide, its just the times of flights that are the problem. I was thinking of coming over on the Friday but with the times of flights and me working, I might have to leave super early on Saturday morning - what time do you think we will start in the morning? My flight would get in at 9am I think so I'd just get the taxi directly to your place if that makes sense?

My project is still in my head, you know me - Last Minute Mandy ROFL

For all of you who think I have really lost the plot when it comes to typing please let me apoplogise for the quality of the post re the Craft Mad Meet Up. Seems I had major gremlins as the original post which I had typed on Word was perfect then when I uploaded it heaps of the words had run together with no spacing. I have fixed as many mistakes as I can see and as a test have reposted this ( and deleted) a couple of times with the same result.
I also sent it to Ruth and Ron (and Ron also checked the original) however it worked fine for them so just another one of life's computer mysteries I guess and no I haven't finally run off the rails

    This is exciting
thanks Kaye for putting all that information up

Chermside Court Motel looks good - lots of pics, $130 per night, free internet access, and brekkie at $10 per person
Chermside Green Motel - rates look good - if they honour our RAA membership, maybe we could get an executive room for $130 (includes hair dryers, ironing board plus other stuff)

I would dearly love to be able to come - but cannot commit just yet ;( but I am working on it

EDITED: Just gave myself a real scare and looked up the flights OMG!!!!! between $200 - $300 One Way!!! JetStar are the cheapest at $169 + $20 booking fee but that includes carry on baggage only and is usually limited to 7kg - not much for a 3 day weekend

    Thanks Cathy
Just a couple of points re the motels
Chermside Green is on the main highway and also backs on to the entertainment/food court precinct of Westfield Shopping centre , very central and very handy. My only concern there would be the possible noise factor.
Chermside Court is about 300 metres off the main road and a much quieter option. A friend of Ruths stayed there recently and she was quite happy with it.

Kaye, I didn't think you'd lost the plot with your typing, I just thought you'd typed too fast and it couldn't keep up with you! It was very strange how the words joined themselves together in the post here but not in the copy I got to check. Really looking forward to the weekend, should be lots of crafting and fun.

The flights are horrendous hey Cathy? I hope Jetstar have a sale before the end of July hint hint I did think that since I didn't get a holiday last year and it doesn't look like I'll get one this year, then a three or four day break will be my little treat - bugger the cost. I'll probably use my tax rebate to fund it.

I think I'm going for the Chermside Court as it does have the quieter option plus free internet. I did want accommodation with a pool but figured if I really felt like getting up early to go for a swim, there is a splash centre nearby. I love the idea of being able to get up and go for a walk down by the river - although judging by the map it could well be a long walk lol.

I'm planning on taking my little weekend suitcase for clothes and my big wheely craft bag for the craft stuff which I'll pack carefully and put in the hold. Hopefully it won't weigh more than 20kgs otherwise I'm in trouble lol. Or another idea would be to pack up a box and send it to Kaye's with all my stuff in and just try to stay within the 7kgs carry on limit (although I reckon my handbag weighs more than 7kgs lol) - I could easily repack the stuff and get it collected by our couriers.

ETA I just did a search on Jetstar website for holidays and they do a three day break arriving on the Friday and leaving on the Monday - perfect, at the Hotel Ibis for $963 including flights - might be a bit more travelling to Kayes place each day but it does sound like a really great deal

Have to keep your eye on the sales Mandy. You certainly deserve a break

I think you would be exhausted by the time you even got to the river for that walk from here.

Bit more info ...the splash pool is situated behind the Westfield shopping centre and about 500 metre from the Chrermside Court
The Ibis Hotel is in the city close to the river and about 25 to 30 minutes from us.

No point in saying you can send up whatever you like Mandy ...... you already know that lol
Your handbag sounds a bit like mine but you know when I look to see what I can remove to lighten it I find more things belonging to Ron than me
